I had to shut my music page down due to my rise in popularity in China

*5GB weekly download volumes originating from China*

The download volumes have been rising steadily for the last couple months…it finally triggered an email from my domain/webspace host when the monthly limit was exceeded today.

If anyone wants me to perform live in China just send me an email and we can work out the details.

Thanks.

my wisdom teeth extraction

by Jeremy on Dec.02, 2006, under e/n

So the day finally came after 2 years of putting it off. I got all four of my wisdom teeth extracted at UCLA Dental School. They did a fine job of removing them all with no complications and I am recovering rather well. Here’s a recap.

I walked in and sat down in the chair and told the Doc about my anxiety about pulling teeth and needles. This forthcoming combined experience of needles and pulling teeth made me very uneasy and tense. I didn’t know what was coming (if it would be a hard surgery, if i’d have complications later on, if i was going to be in total pain) and I’ve had people tell me some very different stories about their experiences. Some super good and some super bad. The assisting Doc hooked up the EKG and gave me an oxygen tube. The EKG was broken so they had to switch it out with a good one. It said my HR was 260 (I wasnt THAT nervous) The the Doc put the IV in…man I HATE needles…I think that was the most uncomfortable moment the entire time i was at UCLA…

OK. I was all hooked up and ready to go…My head was in the clouds from the deep oxygen breathing… I felt more relaxed ( i thought the meds started already). I have to try an oxygen bar sometime…maybe one day after riding in the smoggy streets of LA.

So I let the Doc get started. What the heck, I was being worked on in one of the best dental schools in the world by someone that performs the same surgery day in, day out. And I could not take another day of headaches, toothaches and popping advil like candy and halloween was everyday for the last three months.

I asked for them to cover my eyes. They asked if it was because the light was in my eyes. I said “Because I don’t want to see you guys.” They put one of those cloths you see in surgeries where only the incision was exposed. Then the Doc gave me a couple shots of meds through the IV in my arm. Then a few more shots in my mouth (i totally hate needles in the mouth) Then he got started on tooth #1. I thought he was just loosening them a little because the meds didnt feel like they kicked in… but the 1st tooth took a while to get out and by the time it popped out the meds kicked in. I can only remember three teeth being pulled and to me it felt like three in a row and then it was over… WEIRD. I totally can’t remember my upper right tooth being pulled!!!! I do remember the last tooth… it hurt!!! So the Doc gave me more meds…and I felt better. He got it out after some sawing and pulling… it was my bad tooth that had a nerve right at the end of the root.

The Doc said “thats it” and started cleaning up. I only remembered 3 teeth being pulled right? So I held four fingers up and said “Ooo pullld fhoor?” and the Doc said “yeah, pulled all four out!”. Hell if I was going throught that one more time if he missed one. So i just kicked back for a while and let the meds wear off…I guess I must have fell asleep during the surgery. My sense of time was off. The Doc came around and released me with a presription to fill… vicodin and antibiotics. I shook his hand and thanked him for the great surgery and made my stumbly way to the pharmacy.

When we were at the pharmacy my mouth was full of blood so I had to go the bathroom and make a blood donation to the sink. EW. It was nasty. There was a lot. Being my mom is in the dental profession I asked her to drive me so I could ask her questions and she knew about this kind of stuff… anyways… beats asking a buddy to drive me (might end up in a bar shooting vodka) or asking a girl to drive me (might totally gross her out). Plus my sister wanted to get out of the house and visit UCLA with the baby in his UCLA shirt so she came too…So when we were waiting for the prescription I showed mom the teeth that got pulled. She said they were “huge” teeth…yeah they kinda are huge.

So I got the prescription filled and it was funny because the lady asked if i knew how to use the vicodin. There are somethings I could teach her about the stuff (ha ha) Anyways the doctor gave me a good tip… take 1 vicodin, then a couple hours later take advil and keep doing that…. it saves the vicodin and decreases the swelling.

On the way home I got some smoothies, gauze and some extra ice packs. I also stopped at Jamba Juice to get a smoothie. I wrote down my order and handed it to the girl behind the register. She read it and asked…”did you get your teeth pulled?” i nodded yeah “how many?” i held up 4 fingers “your wisdom teeth?!” i nodded yes. “how are you going to drink your smoothie?” I shrugged and smiled… and wished me well.. Jamba Juice people are always so nice…

It took an hour to get home. Typical LA (actually it was quick for that time of day) About 15 minutes away from my place the meds wore off and I was in PAIN… plus there is a crying/teething/grumpy baby in the car and he only likes to drive fast… at this point I was trying to console myself by reasoning that traffic in this district isnt as bad as that district and this street is faster than that street… etc. etc…it really pays to know your way around LA. I even thought…i could ride my bike right now… i;d be home by now if I rode my bike!!!!… crazy thoughts…

As the car pulled up to my place I jumped out the door, ran upstairs, rinsed my mouth out, took two vics, an antibiotic, drank some smoothie, strapped two ice packs to my jaw and was knocked out within 30 minutes….it only lasted 2 hours…weak!

I feel pretty good now… I miss solid food… actually I ate a tiny piece of some tonight but it wasn’t enjoyable because I can barely chew…but drank some more smoothie…and ate some ice cream…

The Doc said no vigoruous activity for a week until I start to heal…that means no hard bike rides…at least when I do start training and riding again I wont get those bad headaches and tooth aches…hmm I can use this off time to work on that one bike I want to build…

I’ll post some before and after pictures later…

C ya
