jack black

it looks like Jack Black is researching a role for a new movie… the movie about the immigrant guy that rides his magna on the sidewalk going the wrong way? after his sucess with the latino wrestling movie i can understand Jack wanting to dive deeper into latino interests… it’s the most popular culture in Los Angeles. You simply cannot go a few miles without spotting the wrong way sidewalk riders. Just two criticisms tho…. it looks as if the bike is sized correctly AND he’s wearing a helmet. Seriously, if we are going to buy into this role, he’s going to have to get a much bigger or smaller bike and lose the helmet.

hmm…. maybe they will buy the rights to use my spanish language ballad titled “el jinete de la acera” (rider of the sidewalk) i’ve been working on.

just finished my minty boost…

by Jeremy on Mar.25, 2009, under e/n

Minty Boost, by Adafruit Industries, is a small, 2 X AA battery powered charger for the iphone and other such portables using the usb port. The kit costs $19.50 and can be assembled with the most basic knowledge of electronics and a mind keen to following directions.

The Minty Boost PCB:

It took me about 45 minutes to finish…

The project completed:

It’s such a simple design and makes it very easy to just take off and go without having to worry about where I can recharge. It’s so small it fits in a jersey pocket or pants pocket. Compared to the weight of the 12v battery inverter I have or the price of a factory made model ($40+) the Minty Boost was the way to go. To make things simple it runs on common AA batteries available everywhere.

Another kit, the TV-B-Gone kit looks very fun to use at a sports bar, retail mall or auto show!!!

death of the newspaper

by Jeremy on Mar.17, 2009, under e/n

newspaper takes the advice of the tech industryhttp://www.newspaperdeathwatch.com/

why waste your money on the failing production of messy, widely unread newspapers when the whole industry is moving online? and why kill all those trees or waste paper on advertising and old news?

i’m not sayin that all newspapers should be forced out of print media!
…take for instance the Lauterbrunnental Leaflet… a fine retro grouchy paper originally only available in print is now offered digitally…lol
